One of the areas I really want to improve in is painting flowers and nature in general. My goal this year is to do more painting studies and still life with everyday objects. In this video, I attempt to paint some roses. The first one came out okay, but the second one was definitely overworked. I was in a rush to finish before the baby woke up from her nap and didn’t allow the layers to dry underneath so the colors started to become muddy. It was a great reminder to take my time and that I need more practice with color mixing to get the exact shades I want. Getting the the right color off the bat will not only save me time, but also allow me to work with fewer layers.

One of the things I really struggle with when it comes to art is painting flowers. So in today’s video, you get to watch me struggle with not only one, but two flower paintings. I also experiment with some abstract techniques and by the end of it, hopefully, I’ll have gained some knowledge and experience that I could use towards future paintings. You can find timestamps in the description box below, if you’d like to skip around in the video. Thanks for watching, and I’ll catch you in the next one!

This was a quick study of a coyote. They are a common sight here in Southern California. You can find them roaming around neighborhoods and in urban areas.

I recently bought this lavalier microphone to capture better audio during my filming process. You can hear the difference that it makes between the beginning and end of the video. I tested the mic while varnishing the pieces and I am looking forward to incorporating more ASMR into my videos.
